School Year 2006-07 PTSA Objectives
- Improve PTSA governance by drafting a constitution, revising the by-laws, introducing net-based coordination practices, and gaining approval to operate on the SHAPE installation.
- Ensure the accountability of funds through an external audit of the 2005-2006 SY, development of a corrective action plan if needed, and the implementation of generally accepted accounting principals and practices.
- Establish an effective record keeping system to ensure adequate archives are maintained for future reference; and, establish accountability of any non-expendable/durable PTSA property.
- Establish an effective election and Board turnover process that allows the 2007-2008 SY SHAPE PTSA Board the greatest opportunity to succeed.
- Improve transparency of Board activities and enhance information flow to the SHAPE PTSA General Membership and the larger SHAPE Community by establishing an active web site populated with timely information, and using multi-faceted media to publicize SHAPE PTSA events and initiatives.
- Increase membership by lowering membership fees, conducting improved membership drive campaigns, encouraging student representation and input to the Board, and reaching out to the broader international community whose children attend the U.S. elementary and high schools sections of the SHAPE International School.
- Increase SHAPE participation in European PTA activities that offer experience and opportunity for our students.
- Seek wider input from students, faculty, school administration and parents concerning PTSA goals, objectives and programs.
- Quickly establish a year-long program and an integrated school community master event listing/calendar to allow better coordination, while retaining the flexibility to adjust to changing conditions or emerging priority requirements.
- Assess and re-establish budget line items so they produce the greatest impact yet remain consistent with resource availability and non-discretionary funding requirements.
- Re-invigorate the SHAPE PTSA Fall Bazaar, our principal fund-raising event, via a new venue, wider marketing, and improved service options for both vendors and customers.
- Support projects, including but not limited to: SIS sponsorship of an Afghani school, Elementary School Yearbook, PTSA sponsored award and scholarship program, Elementary School Spirit Program, an enhanced teacher/volunteer recognition program, support of field/study trips that leverage our international location and composition, ECAPTS Spelling Bee, and Scholastic Book Club.
