Reregistration Information for 2009-2010
DoDDS - E Transportation Information
The transportation section administers the school bus system and has an office. Sponsers need to register with transportation to make arrangements for busses.
Adverse weather or road conditions between 1 November and 31 March may make it necessary to cancel the School Bus Service. In the interests of your children's safety, the Officer in Charge Transportation Operations, S4 Engineering and Logistics Branch, Headquarters Support Group, or his representative will make this decision on the morning concerned at 0600 hours. The information will be relayed to parents by AFN SHAPE (104.2 FM), BE Radio RTBF HT - VIVACITY (92.3 FM/101.8 FM) and BFBS Radio (107.7 FM), commencing at 0645 hours and repeated every 15 minutes until 0845 hours. The information is also provided on a Customer Help-Line on 065/44.60.33 or on ext 6033. The school will remain closed under these circumstances.
On occasion, the bus routes are clear in some areas but not in others. When this happens and a bus has not arrived within 15 minutes after the end of scheduled pick-up time (example: normal pick up time is 0805 to 0810, 0810 + 15 minutes = 0825 hours), parents must make their own arrangements to get their children to school. Should the School Bus Service be cancelled during the school day and therefore no return journeys are possible, parents will again be informed of the need to collect their children via the radio channels.
The adminsitration of regulations for the safety and well-being of students while riding school buses rests with the Chief, School Bus Transportation, not the school. Disciplinary measures also are meted out by the military command supervising the school buses. If students inflict willful or malicious damage to buses or equipment, their sponsors will be required to reimburse the bus company for the cost of repairing teh damage. Inappropriate behavior by sutdents on the buses may result in suspension from riding any school bus. Bad manners will not be condoned, nor hazardous behavior permitted.
Activity busses will be provided for students enrolled in the I.S. Secondary Section who are participating in legitimate after-school activites. This does not include detention or in-school suspension. Students will be dropped off at strategic locations througout the SHAPE area (not door-to-door). At least five students must be on the buse for it to travel the designated route.
Activity bus passes are issued for each sports season. Students must request a new bus pass at the beginning of each season by contacting the high school Guidance Office.
